A Bridge Between Cultures

Portland Mercado has served as a community anchor bringing together diverse cultures through food, art, and entertainment, giving local entrepreneurs a place to see their dreams become reality. The Portland Mercado has served as home and incubator for over 100 local businesses. This all paused since the fire in January 2024 displaced businesses and challenged the ones that stayed.

Right after the fire, Hacienda and the community fundraised $250K which was distributed among the businesses impacted by the fire. We have continued to pursue reconstruction, and we are excited to announce that we are now in the permitting phase.

The capital campaign this upcoming winter will allow an opportunity for the community and the public at large to help shape the future of the Portland Mercado as we will engage with them asking for their input. Together, we can reflect upon what would be the best business model for the Portland Mercado moving forward.

We want to thank the tenants for their patience and understanding, and we applaud their dedication to keeping the Portland Mercado a community favorite. This would not be possible without their dedication to coming together as a community and helping each other meet their needs.  

We are fully committed to making the necessary changes to return to a thriving Portland Mercado.
